Between Eras 

The design approach celebrates the existing structure, carefully integrating modern interventions without compromising the home’s original character. Raked ceilings were introduced to amplify vertical space and bring in light, while the Victorian façade was preserved, ensuring continuity with the surrounding streetscape. 

Inside, a calming, nature-inspired palette sets the tone—earthy neutrals, layered textures, and subtle contrasts in deep blue and green create a space that feels serene yet dynamic. Central to the concept was the homeowners’ personal art collection, with works like European Australia (2021) by Peter Watts serving as creative touchpoints. 

Material Integrity

Material selection played a key role in bridging old and new. Natural quartzite and marble provide moments of elegance, while timber elements introduce softness and warmth. Details such as reeded glass, arched steel-framed doors, and matte finishes add depth and tactility without overwhelming the space. 

Every element was chosen for its ability to stand the test of time—visually, structurally, and emotionally. 

Layered Hardware 

The stained-glass front door sets a classic tone, paired with the Cambridge Knob in Brushed Brass—an intentional nod to the home’s Victorian heritage. But as you move down the hallway, tradition gives way to a more modern mood. Arched glass doors framed in black mark the transition to the living area, fitted with Baltimore Levers in Matt Black, their slim, minimalist design echoing the sleek lines of the contemporary space beyond. 

The rest of the home finds its rhythm through the Helsinki range in Brushed Brass—a thoughtful blend of heritage material and modern form. Its minimalist lines and enduring appeal create a subtle link between the traditional entry and the modern interiors. Iver’s cohesive product offering enabled a whole-of-home approach, ensuring every detail felt connected, considered, and complete.
