Scandinavian Farmhouse<\/strong><\/h2>\n

When a home is located within the wilds of nature, there is something to be said for maintaining a sense of clarity and order inside. Such is the way with this Lakesland home, situated on acreage in New South Wales\u2019 Wollondilly Shire.<\/p>\n

Jess Hunter Interior Design<\/a> and Built to Desire<\/a> worked on the building, working to a brief that requested a \u201cneutral colour palette with modern farmhouse\/Scandinavian vibes,\u201d say Built to Desire. To achieve this, the teams have combined a clever medley of recurring shapes, the effect of which form an interior which feels balanced and calm. Long, horizontal lines are repeated across kitchen cabinetry, shelving and cantilevered vanities, while archways form windows and entries; even shower doors, all bordered with contemporary black framing.<\/p>\n

The use of contrasting accents continues with the hardware, with the designers employing Iver\u2019s Helsinki and Osaka range throughout the home. \u201cSelected by Jess Hunter Interior Design, we wanted something in a deep bronze with texture and simplicity,\u201d say Built to Desire. \u201cWe chose the Brunswick range of door handles with the Helsinki Pulls to tie in with the home\u2019s sense of simplicity and colour.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Refined Materials<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In Iver\u2019s Signature Brass finish, the Helsinki Pull Handles<\/a> and Cabinet Pulls, as well as the Osaka Cupboard Knobs<\/a>, feature frequently, on cabinetry \u2014 some even concealing appliances \u2014 in the open plan kitchen, and in the bathrooms. The Rectangular Sliding Door Pull Passage Kit<\/a> creates a sense of calm symmetry on sliding doors leading into the dining room.<\/p>\n

These deep-bronze accents are not only beautiful in their own right, but they also help to frame and highlight the refined use of materials used in this building \u2014 the pale wood of the cabinetry and flooring, the off-white walls and tiling, and the stone elements such as on the island and breakfast bar.<\/p>\n

Limiting materials like this means that each one can be seen and celebrated for itself, one\u2019s attention drawn to its detailing and craftsmanship, rather than flitting from one feature to the next. And with bucolic scenery like this outside the window, there need not be any more distraction.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
