Newbuilds need to be both visually appealing and comfortable to live in. Striking that equilibrium\u2014creating something\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0a balance of the new and the familiar\u2014is a challenge for even the most accomplished of architects. Stanton Architects went all in on Chelmer Project, creating a building which\u00a0seeks\u00a0to realise this, overlooking the flowing aspects of the Brisbane River.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>This project was a 2\u20133-year design and construction journey located in Chelmer, Brisbane, positioned to take full advantage of views over the Brisbane River,\u201d they say. \u201cThe home is a contemporary build with classic architectural throwbacks, balancing modern form with timeless detail.\u201d To achieve this, the building itself leans towards the linear, with the interior elements \u2014 like the curvaceous kitchen island, rounded coffee bar, sofas and armchairs, not to mention the surrounding natural landscape \u2014 more inclined towards the organic. \u201cThe structural approach combined clean, simple lines with high-quality natural materials, including stone and steel-framed windows,\u201d continue the architects. \u201cExtensive landscaping was designed to soften the overall form. We aimed to use simple, enduring materials in a way that felt natural, understated, and timeless. Stone, steel, and textured finishes provided the architectural foundation, while greenery was integrated throughout to soften the structure and enhance the connection to landscape.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the Brunswick collection meant consistency throughout the home, which helped bring the entire interior together. \u201cIver\u2019s comprehensive, whole-of-home offering allowed us to maintain consistency across all touchpoints, ensuring every piece\u2014from entry kits to interior levers\u2014worked cohesively.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
