Kate Lawrence is a residential interior designer and founder of Kate Lawrence Interiors, a boutique studio specialising in client projects and personal developments, from renovations to full-scale new builds. With hands-on experience in her own construction projects, she understands the complexities of building and the importance of selecting finishes that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. Her approach to design is deeply personal, creating timeless, balanced spaces that reflect each client\u2019s lifestyle with a sense of calm and cohesion.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We sat down with Kate to discuss her design philosophy, current trends, and how architectural hardware\u2014like Iver\u2019s signature collections\u2014plays a role in shaping her spaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us a little about yourself \u2013 how did you get into interior design?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

I am a Residential Interior Designer, running my own design studio. I work on both personal development projects, which are a combination of renovations and new builds, as well as client projects where I design the entire home and document all finishes in the space.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s<\/span> your <\/span>favourite<\/span> part about your role as an interior designer?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Being able to <\/span>truly understand<\/span> my clients’ wants and needs and bring their dream home to life. <\/span>It is a really rewarding experience working with people.<\/span> I also love being on-site and collaborating with the trades who turn <\/span>what’s<\/span> on paper into reality.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n

What are your current favourite trends in interior design? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I love that the use of natural stone is becoming more popular. Previously, people seemed to avoid it due to misconceptions about its durability. Now, I am seeing it become a highly sought-after choice among my clients. It truly elevates a space and adds depth to a design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s your favourite room to design and why? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The kitchen! It is the heart of the home and helps me determine how I want other spaces in the house to look and feel. There are so many practical design solutions for a kitchen space, and I love the detail you can inject into it through the joinery and stone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s your advice when clients are selecting hardware for their project?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Choose quality, and <\/span>don’t<\/span> overlook it as merely just a door handle or hinge. These <\/span>small details<\/span> completely enhance the overall design aesthetic. They are also items you interact with daily, so durability and craftsmanship are essential.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s your favourite piece from the Iver range and why? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I absolutely love the Baltimore Lever<\/a> on Oval Backplate in Signature Brass. I have it in my office, and I plan on using this throughout my new home. I love hardware, and I love that this design is a stand-alone statement piece. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
